Listening to podcasts is pretty new for me – I’m not sure why, but I resisted checking out this medium for a long time. I think I had convinced myself that I didn’t have time to add something else to my already full life. But then for Christmas, my sweetheart bought me a bluetooth stereo for my car (goodbye CD player!!) and suddenly the choices of what was available to listen to seemed endless. And, as a huge added bonus, driving has become much more enjoyable. Have to drive one of my kids to the 10th million activity of the day? No problem! No more depressing news or bad radio tunes – the solo portion of the trip is now something I look forward to.

Today I am leaving for my 2 week women’s retreat in Haida Gwaii – I have an all day drive from Prince George to Prince Rupert and then an 8 hour ferry ride tomorrow. I’ve loaded up some great podcasts to listen to along the way. Here are some of my favourites:

Esther Perel ~ Where Should We Begin. I think it is safe to say I’m kind of obsessed with Esther Perel at the moment. A Belgian physiotherapist and an expert on human sexuality and relationships, Ms. Perel is eloquent, insightful, intelligent and captivating.  These podcasts are actual therapy sessions where she is councils anonymous couples. The podcasts are described as taking ‘you into the antechamber of intimate moments‘. I’m totally hooked.

Wild Mystic Women. Layla Saad’s powerful interviews with mostly WOC on identity, spiritual healing, anti-racism, writing, embodied living and more. So much rich learning and soul work here. A must.

On Being. Amazing. From the website: “The On Being Project … pursue[s] deep thinking and social courage, moral imagination and joy, to renew inner life, outer life, and life together. We make … offerings towards the generative possibilities of a tender, tumultuous global moment. We look behind and beyond the news cycle, attending to the human change that makes social transformation possible across generational time.” Ready to listen?

Dr. Christiane Northrup. Dr. Northrup, a OBGYN, is internationally recognized for her empowering approach to women’s health and wellness. She is the author of many books, including the incredible Women’s Bodies. Women’s Wisdom. I love her insight on the powerful role of the human spirit in creating health. I actually find that her guest appearances on other podcasts often have some of the best material.

The Kate and Mike Show. Kate Northrup (yup, Dr. Northrup’s daughter) and her husband Mike Watts talk about all sorts of issues related to entrepreneurship, parenting, personal development, love and life. Some very insightful interviews with wonderful guests and lots of gems on how to run a business. I am also a member of Kate’s Origin program which is for mother entrepreneurs and loving every minute of it.

Of course, there are so, so many others. I would LOVE to know what you listen to – please send me a note with some of your faves or post them on my Facebook page. Happy listening!

love & pranams,
