A Yoga Teacher Training a highly transformative and intimate training program designed to take your current practice deeper and provide you with extensive understanding into the science and spirit of Yoga, which allows you to teach Yoga as a recognized Yoga Alliance Certified teacher in many schools and studios around the world.

Several format options are available to suit various lifestyles and levels of expertise, and my offerings change throughout the year, so please have a look at my upcoming teacher trainings.

Attending a Teacher Training, you will find inspiration, purpose and perspective through in-depth Yoga Philosophy and esoteric studies. This will help increase your awareness along with physical and mental healing, strength, stamina and agility through each of our experiential classes we will do together.

CURRICULUM

With its roots in the Sivananda lineage, our training is inclusive of many styles of hatha yoga such as Ashtanga, Sivananda, Yin, Restorative, and Vinyasa all while incorporating thorough study of yoga philosophy. This outstanding aspect of the SOYA Teacher Training embraces unity in all yogis, regardless of their paths and styles of yoga. During our Yoga Teacher Trainings, aspiring teachers and serious students will enjoy:

  • Inspiration, purpose and perspective through in-depth Yoga Philosophy and esoteric studies, including: Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Chakra System and more.
  • Increased awareness along with physical and mental healing, strength, stamina and agility through experiential classes that explore: Asana—movement, alignment and energetics; Yoga Kriyas—purification techniques; Foundational Pranayama—the yogic art of breathing, and Meditation—the yogic science of the mind.
  • Core teaching skills, professional knowledge and credentials necessary to confidently and safely share Yoga with the world, including: modifications, Sanskrit pronunciation, anatomy, lesson planning, studio ethics and professionalism, as well as valuable experience and practice teaching.

CERTIFICATION

Our curricula meet International training standards. We are a Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance (YA) and have equivalency with the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA).

Yoga Alliance credentials are the premier form of recognition for yoga teachers, which helps ensure that yoga students can find knowledgeable instruction and training programs.

All students who complete this training are eligible to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) with a 200 hour designation, RYT® 200.

These credentials, in conjunction with certification through SOYA Yoga/Chinook, will help you take advantage of emerging professional opportunities in the field of Yoga!

Carla Wainwright Teacher Training Registered Yoga Alliance RYS 200

YOGA ALLIANCE

A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) is a credential earned by yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance Registry Standards. A RYT must complete training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS®), be confirmed by RYS and keep current with Continuing Education and their annual fees.

RYT® 200

Teachers can register as a RYT® 200 if they have successfully completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program that is registered with Yoga Alliance. All training hours must come from the same school and multiple trainings cannot be combined to meet the 200-hour Requirement.

Carla Wainwright Teacher Training Registered Yoga Alliance RYS 500

YOGA ALLIANCE

A Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT®) is a credential earned by yoga teachers whose training and teaching experience meet Yoga Alliance Registry Standards. A RYT must complete training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS®), be confirmed by RYS and keep current with Continuing Education and their annual fees.

EXPERIENCE

Experienced teachers will enjoy my advanced 300 hour program, offering an enriching opportunity for immersion into a traditional yoga lifestyle while exploring advanced topics and earning credit toward RYT® 500 certification. After graduation, teachers and studio owners can receive additional ongoing support through Carla’s one-on-one Mentorship Programs.

RYT® 500

Teachers can register as a RYT® 500 if they have successfully completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training program that is registered with Yoga Alliance. The 500 hours of training can either come from one school or can be a combination of a 200-hour program plus 300 hours of advanced training from a RYS® 300. Advanced training is defined as training that requires participants to have completed a 200-hour training. Applicants must also submit 100 teaching hours that were completed after their RYS® 200 or 500 training.

Training Requirements

✓ Completed a 500-hour training program with a RYS® 500, OR
✓ Completed a 200-hour training program with a RYS® 200 AND an additional 300 hours of training with either the same RYS® or a different RYS® registered as a RYS® 300

Teaching Requirements

✓ Has at least 100 hours of teaching experience since completing training with a RYS® 200 or 500

THE 200 HOUR PROGRAM

Carla Wainwright Teacher Training Registered Yoga Alliance RYS 200Our 200 hour yoga teacher training program helps students to understand the roots of yogic wisdom while developing teaching skills and class designs.  It is life changing and a beautiful foundation for an amazing journey ahead as a yoga teacher.

Daily sessions include detailed instruction and practice in various styles of Hatha Yoga such as Ashtanga, Sivananda, Flow and Yin. Morning and evening meditation, chanting, pranayama, along with group review and discussion will shed light on the written assignments in philosophy.  Students design a series of 6 Yoga Lesson Plans. This is a very detailed assignment the student must complete covering benefits, precautions and modifications for asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. To help solidify all the new knowledge a student gains, Students practice and develop their teaching skills throughout the entire program. Upon completion there is a written exam and practical exam.

Graduates are eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance as RYT200®.

THE 300 HOUR UPGRADE PROGRAM

02-YA-SCHOOL-RYS-300You don’t have to travel to India to find an authentic immersion training. SOYA’s masterful, highly trained faculty offer a uniquely individualized, deeply transformative, safe and intimate teacher training.

The SOYA 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training Upgrade Immersion is rich with daily practice in pranayama, asana, meditation and philosophy study while expanding and developing teaching skills! The immersions are delivered in TWO 12 day modules in lovely secluded locations free from distractions. Entry to the program can be in either module.

This program is for those who have completed their RYT200 hour training and wish to immerse themselves in the traditional yoga lifestyle while upgrading to RYT500.

Our Teacher Training & Enrichment Immersions are designed to make sure you come out feeling completely prepared and ready to teach and share your gifts with the world. We do this by providing you with the most important and essential foundations, along with forward thinking skills to help you to succeed.

EXPERIENCE

These Teacher Training Immersions are perfect for students who have at least one year of yoga practice and are looking for an opportunity to spend time completely immersed in traditional yoga lifestyle. The programs begin with supported studies at home two months prior to the training, and then all students gather for an immersion retreat of yoga sadhana to complete their training. Various styles of hatha yoga, philosophy, meditation, mantra, pranayama and anatomy are all part of the comprehensive curriculum. Likewise, upon completion graduates are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance with the RYT® credential.

Carla Wainwright Books Included in Teacher TrainingsFees and Inclusions vary by event and location but generally teacher training fees include: Tuition, Books and Supplies, Administration and Registration Costs, and Anatomy and Alignment Labs. Meals and accommodations are included in the intensive programs.

All books and the Yoga Teacher Training manual will be shipped to you upon receipt of your non-refundable deposit, which reserves your space.

HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I NEED FOR THE TEACHER TRAINING?

For the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, the minimum is one year of practice.

For the 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training, a Yoga Alliance recognized 200 hour training is the requirement.

WHICH IS MORE BENEFICIAL, THE INTENSIVE TEACHER TRAINING OR THE WEEKEND FORMAT?
We designed our program to be flexible, so students can mold the program more to their own individual needs. The best way to decide is to consider your finances, and your schedule.
I WORK FULL TIME, WILL I BE ABLE TO MANAGE ATTENDING THE YOGA TEACHER TRAINING AS WELL?
We have had many students complete the program while maintaining full-time work. The program demands significant time and energy, so be prepared to accommodate this in your schedule.
IF I MISS A WEEKEND OR A DAY, CAN I MAKE THIS UP?
All training days are mandatory in order for you to gain the knowledge needed to be a successful teacher and to have enough contact hours to meet Yoga Alliance Standards. That said, we recognize that sometimes there are legitimate reasons that you will be unable to attend. Missed hours will have to be made up with private sessions from faulty members and will incur an additional charge.
WILL I BE ABLE TO TEACH YOGA AFTER THE 200 HOUR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING?
Absolutely! Our 200 hour program helps students to understand the roots of yogic wisdom while developing teaching skills and class designs. You will graduate with a set of completed and tested lesson plans so that you can begin teaching right away!
I HAVE ATTENDED ANOTHER SCHOOLS RYT200 YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, CAN I ATTEND YOUR RYT300 TRAINING?
The SOYA 300 hour Advanced Upgrade Immersion is for those who have completed their RYT 200 from any Registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance and wish to immerse themselves in the traditional yoga lifestyle.
